David G. Havely, Greenwood, Indiana
Term: 2008-2014
Life Member since: 1997

Comrade David Havely currently sits on the VFW National Home for Children’s Finance and Public Relations/Communications Committees.

Havely served in the U.S. Army and retired with 23 years of service.  He has been involved with the VFW for 19 years, serving as the State Adjutant/Quartermaster for the last 15 years. Previously, he has held all offices at the Post and District level and is Commander-elect for the District.  In addition, this is the 8th year as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Big 10 Conference.

Havely has also chaired the National Buddy Poppy Committee and served as a member of the Bylaws, National Security, Citizen’s Education and Legislative Committees, as well as the Blue Ribbon Advisory Committee for Past National Commander-in-Chief Jim Mueller. He focused on providing insight into VFW’s mission and programs. 

Havely is a member of the American Legion, DAV and Past Master of the Greenwood Masonic Lodge #514.  Currently he is serving as Commissioner for the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs.
