Lawrence L. "Larry" Scudder, South Dakota

Term: 2005-2011
Life Member since: 1992

Comrade Lawrence L. "Larry" Scudder currently serves as the VFW National Home for Children’s Chairman of the Public Relations/Communications Committee. He also sits on the Facilities Committee. In addition, he was elected to the Executive Committee. Previously, he served on the Policy and Bylaws, Development, and Program Committees.

 

Scudder has been a Life Member of VFW Post #1273 in Rapid City, South Dakota for 28 years. He has been an active supporter of the National Home at the Department level. 

 

Scudder is a disabled veteran of the United States Air Force and served in Vietnam from 1970-1972. 

 

A leader on the Post, District, Department and National levels, Scudder served as Department of South Dakota Commander from 1995-1996, Grand Commander of South Dakota Military Order of the Cootie from 1991-1992, and National Council Member from 2002-2004.  Scudder has served on many National Committees, and has been selected five times for the Aide-de-camp/Recruiter Class. He has received the Century Award. 

Scudder has received the Purple Heart Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals.

Scudder and his wife of more than 30 years, Sharon, have one son and one grandson.
