Tours

Supporters and friends are always welcome at the VFW National Home for Children. Walking the tree-lined streets of the sprawling campus and exploring 80 years of memories in the Museum truly help people connect to the mission and vision of the living memorial that is the National Home.

We are very proud of the beautiful campus and love to show it off, but please keep in mind that we are obligated to protect our resident’s right to privacy as well as to ensure their safety and dignity. Therefore, when visiting the campus, we ask that you register at the Visitor’s Desk in the Front Lobby of the Administration Building.

Please contact the Public Relations Department at (800) 424-8360 to schedule your tour or fill out our online information request form and someone will contact you. Tours are typically scheduled between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. In general, there are three types of tours:
  1. General Tours:
This tour includes the Administration Building, Guest Lodge, Chapel, Community Center, Health & Education Building, Museum, and campus grounds.
  2. Specific House/Building Tours:
Tours of occupied houses include common living areas. Arrangements are made in concert with a member of the Public Relations Department, the Program Staff or Management Team.
  3. Special Project Tours:
Members of the Board of Trustees, National Officers (or representatives) of the VFW and its Ladies Auxiliary and others who may hold a financial responsibility or interest in a specific project (envisioned or underway), may tour in concert with a member of the management team or designated staff.
If the Administration Building is closed when you visit the National Home, please feel free to drive through and tour the campus.
