The National Home celebrates the 12th Annual Junior Vice Orientation

From May 12th to the 14th, the VFW National Home for Children hosted the 12th annual National Home Junior Vice Orientation. This year’s group of VFW and Auxiliary leaders was one of the largest in record and included National Jr. Vice Commander-In-Chief, Keith Harman and National Jr. Vice President, Dee Guillory. 44 states and the Department of Europe and Pacific Areas were represented during the weekend gathering where attendees were able to get a behind-the-scenes look at what we do here at the National Home. National Military Spouse Appreciation Day

Today marks the 32nd National Military Spouse Appreciation day. Designated in 1984 by President Reagan; the Friday before Mother’s Day is a set aside to recognize and celebrate the military family and all that they do for our country’s men and women in the service. Former VFW Commander-in-Chief, John Furgess was in attendance and really enjoyed his time during his third visit to the National Home. The tour incl

The deck at the Scout Cabin is freshly sealed, the flower beds around campus are weeded and mulched, brush and leaves have been picked up, and fine mulch (kiddy carpet) has been put down in the three playground areas, all thanks to the crew of volunteers from Axson Technologies, led by General Manager Marty Poljan. "The whole team from Axson was a great help, giving us a big jump on our spring landscaping," said National Home Facilities Director Todd Marriott. "We were overjoyed and grateful for their help, which gave us more time to tackle other pressing needs around campus." In all, they spent two full days volunteering on campus in April. Volunteers also helped prepare mailings, and they
