Other Ways to Give
There are many ways to make a difference in the lives of struggling military and veteran families at the VFW National Home for Children.
Honor or memorialize someone or put your name or organization's name on a brick to be placed in a sidewalk at the National Home.
Create a lasting tribute for a person or organization in a beautiful setting while helping build our permantely restricted endowment Fund
Other Tribute Giving
Give a gift in honor or memory of someone. We'll send a card to a family member or friend to notify them that a gift was made in honor/memory.
There are so many ways to give, many that may be something you already do.
Gifts from your IRA
If you are 70.5 or older, a gift directly from your IRA called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) is a smart way to make a tax free donation to VFW National Home.

Amazon's Wish List
The National Home's Amazon Wish List is a great way to buy items that are needed for the day to day running of the National Home. You could buy something small like snow shovels or hand sanitizer or organize a fundraiser to purchase bigger ticket items like play sets for the nursery.
Amazon has a great program that helps raise money for non-profits while people shop – AmazonSmile. Here’s how it works:
1. AmazonSmile Foundation will donate 0.5 percent of the purchase price from your eligible purchases to the National Home.
3. Then log into your Amazon account and start shopping!
Gifts in Kind
Gifts-in-kind are welcome at the National Home. Our Amazon.com Wish List has the most current list of items we can use. And our Santa Shop program is always accepting donations for use at Christmas time. Please refer to our Gift in Kind policy to learn more.
Gifts for Specific Residents
We ask that you refrain from sending gifts designated for a specific resident or the residents of a specific house. It is important that moderation and fairness are observed, which is difficult to do if gifts are designated in this manner. Thank you for your understanding.
Christmas Time - Santa's Shop
The holiday season is a wonderful time at the National Home. While we strive to keep Christmas a time to focus on celebration and family – not material items – we also want and need the children and families to experience the joy of giving and receiving gifts.
Just before Christmas, the National Home’s Santa’s Shop opens and the Community Center auditorium comes alive with the hustle and bustle of holiday shopping. Santa’s Shop is a store where children can purchase gifts for friends and family members using community service hours they have earned throughout the year. Each item is priced in community service hour increments needed to “buy” the item.
We collect donations of new items for Santa’s Shop throughout the year. You can help us stock the shelves of this magical store by donating new items appropriate for all ages, but especially for adults. Please indicate your gift is for Santa’s Shop. All Santa’s Shop donations must be received a week before Thanksgiving to allow time to set the store up for shopping to begin in December.
