Ronald Stenland enlisted in the Army, June 1962. Reenlisted in 1964 and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington. He served 13 months in Korea from March 1965 – April 1966. He returned to the States and was stationed at Fort Indiantown Gap, PA from May 1966- April 1967 and then shipped out to Vietnam in May 1967.
Ron was wounded in October 1967 and was hospitalized until November 1969. He medically retired as Staff Sargent E-6 with 7 ½ years in the Army.
His military awards include: National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal w/ Device 60, Purple Heart and Good Conduct Medal w/ Bronze Clasp 3 Loops.
His organization affiliations include: Life Member VFW Post 23, Life Member DAV Lebco CH 81, Life Member Military Order of the Purple Heart and Life Member VFW National Home for Children.
Positions Ron has held include: VFW Post 23 Commander 1987-1989; 2005-2006; 2004-2015, District 18 Commander 1999-2000, District 3 Trustee VFW National Home for Children 2005-2009 being Board President 2008-2009. Ron currently lives in Lebanon, PA.
