POSITION:  BOARD OF TRUSTEE

SIX-YEAR TERM: Oct. 2019 - Oct.2025

 

 

 

The VFW National Home for Children is seeking candidates for Board of Trustee for the following National Home Districts :

  • National Home District 1  (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont) 

  • National Home District 2 (Europe, New York, New Jersey) 

 

National Home Trustees hold a vital and prestigious position with a mandate to oversee, guide, promote and support the VFW National Home for Children. 

 

VFW and VFW Auxiliary members seeking candidacy must meet the following requirements:

 

  • Be a Life Member of the VFW National Home for Children for at least one year prior to nomination and 

  • Be a member in good standing of the Veterans of Foreign Wars or its Auxiliary and

  • Must be a resident of the National Home District which he/she represents or must reside within a 50-mile commuting distance of the district and

  • Obtain the written endorsement* of his or her respective Department or Department Auxiliary *We encourage the Department Commander and Adjutant or President and Secretary to personally sign the endorsement letter or include a Cc line notifying each other of written endorsement.

 

Written nominations for candidates to run for National Home District 1 or National Home District 2 Trustee shall be submitted in writing on or before June 1, 2019 to the Executive Director of the VFW National Home for Children.

 

The written nomination must include the following requirements:

 

  • Aforementioned written endorsement.

  • A candidate biography - the biography must include the candidate’s qualifications and may be no more than two hundred (200) words in length. 

  • All nomination materials must include the candidate’s:

    • address,

    • phone number(s)

    • email address

    • Post or Auxiliary affiliation

 

The candidates elected as the National Home’s District 1 and District 2 Trustee will serve a six-year term and are required to travel to the National Home to attend:

 

  • New Trustee Orientation on Thursday, October 24th

  • Board Committee Meetings and Board Meeting on Friday, October 25th 

  • Annual Meeting of the Life Members and Organizational Board Meeting, Saturday, October 26th. 

      *Wednesday, October 23rd  and Saturday/Sunday, October 26/27th are travel days. 

 

The VFW National Home for Children Board of Trustees holds meetings up to four times annually.
